Guerra Freitas with prospective Angolan students
Every Thursday on our Global Activism series, we hear about an individual who's decided to work to make the world a better place. This week, we catch up with Guerra Freitas, Founder of Share Circle. Guerra's organization is developing the first university in Kuito, Angola, Guerra's hometown.

Angola's 27 year-long civil war ended in 2002. It's estimated that half-a-million people were killed. Hundreds of thousands were internally displaced and the country's infrastructure was ravaged.

Guerra Freitas is originally from the city of Kuito, Angola. He survived a nine month siege on his city but many of his family members did not.

He left Angola and when he came to Chicago he founded ShareCircle. The organization is currently in the process of building a University in the war torn Bie Province.

We also talk with Joyce Hollingsworth, Director of Programs and Planning for the Angola University Project.
