Listen in as a group of writers, filmmakers and journalists discuss Tom Wolfe's “new journalism.” Participants include journalist Alex Kotlowitz (There Are No Children Here), Pulitzer Prize finalist Luis Alberto Urrea (The Hummingbird's Daughter, The Devil's Highway), filmmaker Steve James (Kartemquin Films, Hoop Dreams), and Alison Cuddy (Chicago Public Radio). Moderated by Lisa Lee, director of the Jane Addams Hull House Museum.

This event is taking place as part of One Book, One Chicago.  Inaugurated in the fall of 2001, the One Book, One Chicago program is launched each spring and fall to cultivate a culture of reading and discussion in Chicago by bringing our diverse city together around one great book. Reading great literature provokes us to think about ourselves, our environment and our relationships. Talking about great literature with friends, families and neighbors often adds richness and depth to the experience of reading. Chicago Public Library invites you to join in as the city explores yet another great piece of literature.

Recorded Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Chicago Public Library.
