Mayor Daley played a role in Chicago's foie gras ban which was later lifted.

Every Monday from now until May, "Eight Forty-Eight"will look at how a new Mayor will affect policies and practices in Chicago. The regular feature called Mayor Mondays began with a look at how the food world might change under new leadership.

From the kitchen table to city council chambers, food is often on the mind of Chicagoans. Mayor Daley swung the gavel on a hot button food topic, the foie gras ban in 2008. But there are plenty more issues related to food and dining facing the next mayor of our food loving city.

To help sort through some of the big issues that may affect your eating, "Eight Forty-Eigh"t spoke to Monica Eng, a reporter who writes about food for The Chicago Tribune.
