MC Zulu Fuses Dancehall, Social Criticism
May 22, 2009
One part reggae. One part club music. One part electronica. And one big heaping helping of a dancehall DJ from Chicago named MC Zulu. His real name is Dominique Rowland, and he left Panama when he was 9 years old. This June, he's releasing a new collaboration with visual artist-turned-musician David Last called Musically Massive on Staubgold. His lyrical flights of fancy range from good-time party tunes to songs with a socially conscious beat.
MC Zulu performs at the Global Alliance for Africa fundraiser this Sunday at the Subterranean.
