"Monsanto v. Geertson Seed Farms" is the first case about how we regulate genetically modified foods to make it to the U.S. Supreme Court. Environmentalists are watching the case because it gets at some fundamental questions about what we consider to be a harm to the environment.

Alison Peck is Associate Professor of Law at West Virginia University. She says the case and its probable outcome shed light on U.S.'s priorities as a country with a huge investment industrial agriculture.

We'll learn more about the case, what it means for the future of environmental regulation, and how U.S. attitudes towards genetically modified organisms compare to international ones.
