Sonotheque proudly presents 6 nights of sounds and rhythms from the various corners of the globe. For those who wetted their appetite at the recent World Music Festival: Chicago 2007 and still couldn't get enough, the "Global Grooves Festival" will showcase music from Brazil, the Ivory Coast, India, Nigeria, Jamaica and Japan.

On Thursday, October 4th, Braziliance @Sonotheque celebrates its One Year Anniversary. For the past year, our monthly Braziliance party has showcased many styles of the popular music of Brazil. We spotlighted evenings of Samba and Bossa Nova, Favela Funk and Sampa Nova, and dedicated nights to the Tropicalia Movement and to Rio Carnaval. We even paid special tribute to Antonio Carlos Jobim. We plan on sampling from all our past Monthly nights to create One very special Anniversary Night. And as a show of apprieciation, CD's of the best in rare Brazilian beats will be given out.

Japanese music mirrored the changes and developments in Western/American musical forms while tweaking the sounds in its own peculiar fashion. From jazz, soul, rock, pop, funk and hip-hop; Japan has puts its own personal imprint on modern musical styles and rhythms.
