Pelican Gets Beyond the 'Metal' Label

This weekend, the band Pelican is performing a pair of shows. It's been a while since they've played Chicago. In fact, it's been a while since the so-called “instrumental metal” band has played anywhere. That might seem strange considering the praise the band has earned over the years for its live sets. But when half of your band is in Chicago and the other in L.A., you can kind-of understand how reality can put a damper on performing together. Alison Cuddy sat down with the Chicago half of the band: Laurent Schroeder-Lebec and Trevor de Brauw.
