For decades, Metra operated bar cars complete with beer, wine, mixed drinks and snacks for sale.  The service was discontinued back in August of 2008, although  the commuter rail line does still allow passengers to bring their own booze on board.  But as Eilee Heikenen-Weiss found out on one of the last  bar car rides, the bar car was about more than just drinking.
