Amina Wadud is an Islamic scholar and author of Inside the Gender Jihad: Women's Reform in Islam.

Wadud made waves in the Muslim community when she led the first mixed-gender public Friday prayer service in the US. She was also the first scholar to pioneer the new field of gender-inclusive readings of the Qur'an.
