As temperatures soar, 'Eight Forty-Eight' remembers the deadly 1995 heat wave.

Jul. 20, 2011

As Chicago swelters from the heat, Eight Forty-Eight asks some of the city's outdoor workers how they are coping and remembers the similar soaring temperatures of 1995. Also, Northwestern University sociologist Christine Percheski joins host Alison Cuddy to discuss the role of marriage in American life. And WBEZ's Richard Steele learns about an experimental program that took gang members West Side of Chicago to the Ivy League's Dartmouth College in 1967.
