On January 17, 1961 President Dwight D. Eisenhower delivered a prescient speech about the implications of a bloated American military and famously coined the phrase the “military-industrial complex.”  We'll listen to extended excerpts of the landmark speech and his granddaughter, national security expert Susan Eisenhower, explains its relevance today. And on our Global Activism segment, we hear from Allie Hoffman, who left Chicago at age 21 for Cambodia.  Now she runs the Pari Project, an organization that helps NGOs improve their transparency and quality of services.
