This event will be recorded for WBEZ’s Chicago Amplified.

Community-based literary center contratiempo presents a poetic gathering at Pilsen community cultural center Calles y Sueños, a second in a series of four events marking the fifth year of the Poesía en Abril festival. This year, we celebrate Cuba and Spain and the vitality of the Spanish language in immigrant literature in Chicago and the U.S.

International poets Jorge Montiel, Olivia Maciel, Rafael Franco, Santiago Wexler, Dana Gelinas, Aurora Arias, and Eduardo Urios perform together in the only Spanish language poetry festival in Chicago. Following the poetry reading, there will be music and a demonstration of the Decima tradition of popular poetry.

The reading will be performed in Spanish. RSVP at www.contratiempo.net, by writing to mpujols@contratiempo.net, or by calling 312-666-7466.
