Father Barnabas (center) and Father Pavlos (r), priests of the Orthodox parish of St. Jean de Freres in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, visit with people left homeless by the January 2010 earthquake.

It's time for our Global Activism segment. Each Thursday, we highlight a person who decided to make the world a better place.

The International Orthodox Christian Charities is hosting its annual 5K run/walk event this weekend in Chicago. The organization’s emergency relief and development programs help those in need worldwide, without regards to religion.

We’ll speak with IOCC’s Alex Mazarakos about his organization's work.

Then we'll get a firsthand account of the group’s work from Natasha Samardzic, who was helped by the IOCC during the war in Yugoslavia.
