Sound Opinions at the Movies Oct. 30

October 9, 2008

On Halloween eve, Sound Opinions is heading over to the Music Box Theatre for a special screening of the Rolling Stones rock documentary Gimme Shelter. Called "the greatest rock film ever made," this landmark documentary follows the Rolling Stones on their notorious 1969 tour, which came to a violent climax at the Altamont Speedway. Taking place just 4 months after Woodstock, the concert came to symbolize the end of hippie counterculture and the peace & love spirit of the 1960's. Sound Opinions host Greg Kot says, "If there's a scarier movie about rock 'n' roll, I don't know what it is." Advanced tickets are available here, with special discounts for students and WBEZ members. ‚
