There have been times I've walked past downtown's Chase Tower and thought the building to be magnificent. Other days, I'm less impressed.  

Poetry Saloon at Noon is the brick and mortar venue of the poetry & arts publishing website, www.SaloonPoetry.com. The venue has rotated between different sites in the city and usually features an open-mic. This event took place on June 10, at the Chicago Public Library's Sulzer Regional Library.

Chicago writer Nathan Rabin, formerly of the AV Club and now of Pitchfork's The Dissolve, is publishing a new book tomorrow titled You Don't Know Me but You Don't Like Me: Phish, Insane Clown Posse, and My Misadventures with Two of Music's Most Maligned Tribes.

It was a big night for Chicago theater at the Tony Awards. 

Bruno Bartoletti, an orchestra conductor who was associated with the Lyric Opera of Chicago for a half-century, died on Sunday.
