Chicago has inked an agreement with the local painters union to allow injured employees to return to work more quickly.

"Making Government Efficient: How can cities collaborate while competing in the new economy?" was part of the 2012 UIC Urban Forum, moderated by Randy Blankenhorn, executive director of Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning. It features: MarySue Barrett, President, Metropolitan Planning Council; Rebecca Hendrick, Associate Professor, University of Illinois at Chicago; Annette Steinacker, Associate Professor and director, Loyola University; and Richard Feiock, Augustus B. Turnbull Professor, The Florida State University.

"Emerging from the Great Recession: How Cities Respond to and Thrive During Challenging Economic Times" is the second panel of the 2012 UIC Urban Forum, moderated by WBEZ's Natalie Moore, featuring: Michael Coleman, Mayor of Columbus; Betsy Fretwell, City Manager of Las Vegas; and Luke Ravenstahl, Mayor of Pittsburgh.

 "Chicago Metropolitan Resilience: Redefining the New Normal" is the first panel of the 2012 UIC Urban Forum, moderated by WBEZ's Niala Boodhoo, featuring: Cristal Thomas, Deputy Governor, Office of Governor Pat Quinn, State of Illinois; Steven Koch, Deputy Mayor of Chicago; and Neil Khare, Deputy Chief of Staff to Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle.
