President Obama returns to Chicago Friday evening along with the first family. This is the president's third trip to his hometown in the last month.

Four weeks ago, the president was here to host a summit of NATO member countries. Two weeks ago he headlined a trio of fundraising events in Chicago for his re-election.

This visit is more about pleasure, and includes first lady Michelle Obama, along with the first daughters. The White House says no public events are planned.

Published reports have the Obama family attending a wedding. The daughter of presidential friend and senior advisor Valerie Jarrett is getting married.

A White House official said the Obamas will spend Friday and Saturday nights at their home in the city's Kenwood neighborhood.

The visit comes a day after the president's presumed Republican opponent, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, stopped off in Chicago to raise an estimated $3.3 million for his campaign.
