Timeline: From Mayor Rahm Emanuel's election to a looming teacher's strike

On Wednesday, hundreds of Chicago Teachers Union delegates voted to give their president a power she already had: the ability to issue a ten-day strike notice at her discretion.
The move is one of dozens that have taken place over a year.
Since the election of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, there has been many heated and contentious issues at play: from school closures and student testing to pay increases and longer school days.
