CHICAGO — Police say eight people gunned down on a Chicago street were injured during a spate of violence that saw 13 people shot in roughly 30 minutes.
Authorities say a drive-by shooting on Chicago's South Side late Thursday wounded seven young men and one woman. They ranged in age from 14 to 20, and most are in stable condition.
Two of the younger victims were taken to Comer Children's Hospital; one was shot in the arm, while the other was shot in the back of the neck. Police say the 19-year-old woman wounded was shot in the arm while walking to work.
Five people were wounded in three other shootings at about the same time. Police say a total of 19 people were shot Thursday night and early Friday.
