Antjie Krog is best known internationally for her 1998 book Country of My Skull, which chronicled her news reporting on South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) assembled after the end of apartheid. The book was later dramatized for the screen as the feature film, In My Country (2004), starring Samuel L. Jackson. In addition to reporting on the TRC for the South African Broadcasting Corporation, Krog has published several volumes of poetry which have been translated into numerous languages, and in 2004 was appointed Extraordinary Professor in the Arts Faculty at the University of Western Cape Town. Her work and published writings are celebrated as an amalgamation of journalism, prose, personal narrative, and poetry that critically captures the moral, emotional and historical complexity of post-apartheid South Africa.
