We currently have 31 Distribution Centers across the country that service over 1500 stores.
Each Regional Distribution Center services anywhere from 50 -- 80 stores.
Our distribution centers, or DCs, are typically 1.3-1.5 million square feet and have 7-8 miles of conveyor. Each building employs between 700 - 1000 team members and ship 40-50M cartons per year.
Let's talk about the growth that we have planned for our distribution centers. We are experiencing a huge amount of growth and we expect this growth to continue well into the future. In the last 5 years, we have doubled in size on the Distribution side of the business. To maintain our high level of service standards, Target Distribution is keeping pace with the opening of new stores by building new distribution centers across the country. By the year 2010 our plan is to have a total of 35-40 distribution centers around the country.
As we continue to grow and expand our business, the career opportunities will also grow exponentially. Thus, we are continually hiring talented individuals to help support our growth and lead our teams into the future.
