Farmers Market Report: May 28th
I should start all of these postings with the disclaimer that I NEVER get to the
Green City Market before 10AM.
So -- I have no doubt I'm missing some of the limited supply veggies and fruits that chefs snap up early in the day.
Local menus are reflecting the spring harvest -- I'm checking out
Green Zebra for ideas.

I was able to buy my first baby arugula of the season at the market.
I nibbled on it all afternoon.
Asparagus, rhubarb and greens are still the stars of the market.
I also bought some good looking radishes, more fresh garlic, and an Italian green that I don't have the name of. Strawberries remain elusive.
One farmer told me that many crops were at least a few weeks delayed because of the weather this year.
One thing I'm sure I want to cook this week -- asparagus risotto.
I'm also contemplating a rhubarb compote
like this.
