Hot dog maker gets steamed at competitor, sues him

June 22, 2011

A famous Chicago hot dog maker is steamed at a competitor.

Vienna Beef is suing the owner of a rival company called Red Hot Chicago, accusing him of either stealing Vienna's 118-year-old recipe or lying to customers by claiming that he's using it.

And the rival is none other than a grandson of one of the two men who founded Vienna Beef after their tubular treats became a hit at the 1893 World's Fair.

Scott Ladany denies that he's stolen anything and insists that he uses a different recipe. He also argues that he has a right to use his grandfather's story in his advertising because it's all true.
