In a press conference Wednesday, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel expressed his satisfaction that his city was chosen. He said, "From a city perspective, this’ll be an opportunity to showcase what is great about the greatest city in the greatest country. And it’s an opportunity for the city of Chicago economically, but also in its message internationally on why Chicago is a city that’s on the move. And if you’re thinking of investing, Chicago is the place to invest."
When questioned by a reporter about who will be paying for the level of security needed to secure the gatherings, Emanuel said, “One of the things I’ll be working on is raising the private resources to supplement what we have to do. But no doubt there will be security needs. But this is an opportunity for the city that’s unprecedented from an economic standpoint and job creation standpoint.”
