In his 15 years on the bench, Justice Stephen G. Breyer has seen his share of controversial cases in the U.S. Supreme Court. While on the bench he heard cases involving school segregation, the detention of illegal immigrants, the legitimacy of a recount vote in Bush v. Gore. Supreme Court cases can divide justices but can also expose divisions among regular Americans. Eight Forty-Eight sat down with Justice Breyer before he spoke Monday at IIT Chicago Kent College of Law. The associate justice started by talking about the make-up of the current Supreme Court.
