Lost In The Trees play cathartic yet composed folk music. Frontman Ari Picker told Steve Edwards Wednesday on Afternoon Shift that he originally was interested in being a film composer and even went to school for it. Pursuing a career in film scoring, however, was unappealing to Picker "because you have to go out to L.A. and climb that ladder and I don't know if that's the kind of person I am."
Music fans are the lucky beneficiaries of Picker's misgivings about the film industry. The seven piece band is melodically captivating while his lyrics and vocals are just devastating. Inspired by his mother's life, the band's new album A Church That Fits Our Needs is certain to be one of the most lauded releases of 2012.
The band performs tonight at SPACE in Evanston.
