Northwestern University has named a new dean for its Medill School of Journalism.
The Evanston school says Indiana University journalism dean Bradley Hamm will succeed John Lavine.
Hamm has been dean at Indiana's journalism school since 2005, where he created the country's first master's degree program in sports journalism.
The 47-year-old Hamm is also credited with increasing financial aid for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as helping to significantly increase the journalism school's enrollment and tripling the number of journalism students studying abroad.
Hamm joins the faculty in July as dean-designate and will become dean on September 1.
