Two southwestern Illinois companies are expected to close, and that means nearly 240 workers will lose their jobs within weeks.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports that Durham School Services in Belleville and a Carlyle-based injection molding company called Fortis Plastics LLC will be going out of business by the end of June.
That's according to a new report from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
The department says Durham School Services has lost a contract and will begin laying off 131 employees on May 31.
No reason was cited for the closure of Fortis Plastics, where 108 workers will be laid off in June.
