The spirit of indie rock descended on Chicago last weekend during the Pitchfork Music Festival. More than a few of the artists were travelling on the cheap, acting as their own tour managers and, in at least one case, sleeping across the street in an RV across from the festival grounds.

No band in Chicago can play West African dance music like The Occidental Brothers Dance Band International. Guitarist Nathaniel Braddock is a keen student of African gutiar styles and saxophonist Greg Ward's searing soulful sax lines compliment trumpeter Kofi Cromwell's horn attacks.
