About

schadenfreude
1. Pleasure derived from the misfortune of others
2. Chicago Public Radio's comedy show

Chicago's critically-acclaimed comedy ensemble, Schadenfreude, brings its irreverent political and social satire to Chicago Public Radio. In each episode, the Schadenfreude cast of characters offers insight, reflection, and comic commentary while highlighting the minutiae of the world around us.

Since 1998, Schadenfreude has performed throughout the Chicago area and beyond, mounting shows as far away as Scotland and as close as Chicago Public Radio's Jim and Kay Mabie Performance Studio. In 2001, NewCity Chicago named Schadenfreude “Chicago's Best Sketch Comedy Troupe.” In 2002, the Chicago Improv Festival awarded Schadenfreude its inaugural Festival Highlight Award. And in 2004, the Chicago Headline Club recognized the Schadenfreude radio program with a Peter Lisagor Award nomination in the category of “Broadcast Commentary.”

So join Schadenfreude every Saturday afternoon at 2 pm for a one-of-a-kind experience fusing radio comedy and social commentary.

Schadenfreude—bringing back the glory years of radio, one ear at a time.
