Curious City is a news-gathering experiment designed to satisfy your curiosities. You ask your questions about Chicago, the region and the people who live here, vote for your favorites, and together we find the answers. It’s your Curious City.
Curious City is produced by Jennifer Brandel and brought to you by WBEZ, Zeega and Localore, a national initiative produced by AIR, the Association of Independents in Radio, Incorporated, and with financial support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Wyncote Foundation, the John D and Catherine T MacArthur Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Founded in 2001, this annual youth poetry slam engages schools and community organizations from throughout the Chicago region. Each year since 2005, WBEZ has invited competition Finalists into our studios to record their work, presented below. Full-length performances are also recorded, and presented here. The Louder Than a Bomb Youth Poetry Festival takes place February 15 through March 15, 2014.
Race is a national obsession and a Chicago obsession. Yet often our deepest feelings go unspoken. WBEZ and vocalo want to change that. Throughout this summer, we’ll be talking about race—out loud, and on the air, in frank conversations and stories and in lively public events.
