Muslims around the world are marking the holy month of Ramadan with fasting, prayer and spiritual reflection.  And here in Chicago, a couple of organizations are using the month to shine a spotlight on community health concerns.  The Inner City Action Network – known simply as IMAN – is teaming up with Muslim hip-hop star Lupe Fiasco and his foundation to tackle issues around food access, health and wellness concerns, and even race relations within their communities.  IMAN’s Rami Nashashibi is the Executive Director, and he joined us to talk about this outreach, and its connection to Ramadan itself.  He also talked about some partnerships they’ve created with some corner stores in the inner city to help bring healthier food options to their stores in these communities.
