Youth media is growing in Chicago. Should your organization pay attention? DeAnna M. McLeary, co-founder and co-executive director of True Star Foundation, oversees programs created to increase literacy rates in Chicago Public Schools and give a voice to urban youth. McLeary's business acumen has had a significant impact on True Star and its ability to reach teens since the program's inception in 2004. With her help, True Star has grown from a single program with 17 students to 14 summer and after-school programs with more than 500 participants throughout the year.
Recorded Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Columbia College Chicago's Film Row Cinema.
