Thursday is the last day to vote early in Illinois. It's also the final day to apply for an absentee ballot in the state. Election officials in Chicago are expected to give an update on early voting turnout later Thursday.

So far in suburban Cook County, more than 70,000 people have voted early. That's more than double the total number of suburban residents who voted in the previous midterm election in 2006.
