When shoppers hit the malls today or go online, some Chicago art groups are hoping to cash in on the Black Friday shopping frenzy.

Several are offering discounted theater tickets or affordable art on Black Friday.

Anthony Moseley, who heads the Collaboraction theater company, hopes a $20 online deal for tickets and a restaurant gift certificate will attract new audience members.

"If you're running a small or medium-sized art organization, every seat, every ticket is super valuable," he says. "And anything we can do to help lower the risk hurdle for our audience members so they come to the theater is a good thing."

Another company, Broadway in Chicago, is offering a deal on Facebook. And the Chicago Urban Art Society has dubbed opening night of an art sale at its space as what else? Black Friday in Pilsen.

As you might expect, some of the ads are in black.
