A federal prosecutor has told jurors as closings begin at the retrial of Rod Blagojevich that the ousted Illinois governor lied to their faces for seven days on the witness stand.

Carrie Hamilton occasionally hit her fist on a lectern as she spoke.

She echoed Blagojevich's own words on the first day he took the stand to say he was there to tell the truth.

But Hamilton told jurors: "The defendant lied to you under oath in this courtroom."

Hamilton also referred to oaths Blagojevich took as governor that he would fulfill his duties, honestly and according to the law.

She said Blagojevich, "time and time again ... violated that oath." She said Blagojevich "used his powers as governor to get things" for himself.
