A Catholic priest and prominent social activist who has clashed with the archbishop of Chicago will have a co-pastor helping lead his church under changes announced by the archdiocese.

Beginning July 1, the Rev. Thulani Magwaza will be a co-pastor with the Rev. Michael Pfleger at St. Sabina Parish on the city's South Side.

Pfleger was also named temporary administrator of nearby St. Margaret of Scotland Parish. The changes were announced Tuesday.

Pfleger will also serve as a representative for anti-violence initiatives.

Pfleger will speak about the changes Tuesday evening. He has had a contentious relationship with Cardinal Francis George. They clashed in April after Pfleger told reporters he would leave the Catholic Church if he were removed from St. Sabina to run a high school.
