MESA, Ariz.  — A vote to approve a spring training stadium deal between the city of Mesa and the Chicago Cubs has been delayed. The Arizona Republic reports the City Council initially had been scheduled to vote this week on a series of agreements governing the baseball and entertainment complex on what is now the Riverview Golf Course near the Route 202.

But a Mesa city official says the contracts are not quite ready.

Mesa officials say they want the public to see the documents well in advance of a city council vote.

Mesa voters signed off last year on allowing the city to spend up to $84 million for the baseball facilities and $15 million for infrastructure for the Riverview site.
