School of the Art Institute Gets New President

July 11, 2008

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago has a new president. Wellington Reiter is an architect and urban designer.

REITER: One of my real passions is to see how the school can become imbedded in the community, involved in maybe literally the civic spaces of the city.

Reiter is currently the Dean of the School of Design at Arizona State University. He's also a fellow at the American Institute of Architects. He starts his new job August 25th. Reiter takes the place of Tony Jones. Jones served as president of the School of the Art Institute for more than eighteen years. He becomes the school's chancellor.
