Jesse Jackson celebrates his 70th birthday

Civil rights activist the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. is celebrating his 70th birthday Saturday and his Rainbow PUSH Coalition is celebrating by rekindling the spirit of the War on Poverty.

A group of leaders plans a breakfast meeting at the coalition's headquarters. They'll discuss renewing the War on Poverty started by President Lyndon Johnson in 1964.

Later, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition plans to distribute 500 food baskets to people considered food insecure based on data released by the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Among the leaders expected Saturday are television's Judge Greg Mathis; the Rev. Frederick Haynes of Dallas' Friendship West Baptist Church; the Rev. Otis Moss Jr. of Cleveland's Olivet Institutional Baptist Church; Joan Collaso, vocalist and native of Chicago; and Terry O'Neill, president of the National Organization for Women.
