A Life in Public Housing
July 19, 2006
This week marks a milestone for a 77-year- old woman on Chicago's West Side.
Mamie Bone is making final preparations to move out of the public housing apartment she has lived in for 50 years.
Her building at Henry Horner Homes is being torn down and she's moving into a new mixed income building nearby.
Bone is a longtime resident leader who served on the Chicago Housing Authority's Board.
She also took part in a lawsuit against the CHA that gave residents more say in the redevelopment of the community.
