Company officials say most of those injured during an explosion at a north-eastern Illinois plant have been released from the hospital. Police received a call about an explosion at Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America in Herscher around 10 a.m. Tuesday. Two people were seriously injured.

Kinder Morgan owns the plant. Company Spokesman Joe Hollier says four of five people injured were released from the hospital. A fifth person is reported in stable condition.

Hollier says the flash fire was extinguished immediately. The cause is under investigation. Kankakee County Sheriff's Department spokesman Ken McCabe says the explosion wasn't due to a gas leak.

Herscher is community with less than 2,000 people about 60 miles southwest of Chicago. The plant is located on a county road away from the community's business district.
