Oak Brook-based McDonald's is looking to fill 50,000 jobs nationwide today, and they're not just about flipping burgers.
John DeCarrier owns 10 McDonald's restaurants in the Chicago area. He says one of his shops at Kedzie and North on Chicago's West Side had more than 300 job applications come in by the early afternoon. DeCarrier says McDonald's is looking to fill more than 1500 jobs in the Chicagoland area as part of its National Hiring Day.
"Our business is booming right now. It's very, very strong. And to fulfill the customers needs that we have and especially as we head into the peak summer season, we wanted to do an intiative nationwide to really focus on our hiring efforts," he says.
DeCarrier says the hiring process will be a quick one, and some new hires will be in job orientation and training by next week.
The company is looking to hire restaurant crew members, managers and staff in the corporate office. McDonald's sales were up 5 percent last year.
