U of I Trustee Says He'll Resign... Even Though No One's Asked Him To

July 28, 2009

Edward McMillan joined the University of Illinois Board of Trustees in May. That was just before news broke about an admissions scandal at the university. McMillan is the only trustee who hasn't been implicated.

But he says he'll do whatever it takes to restore the school's reputation.

McMILLAN: If the decision or recommendation is that we totally need to clean house and start over, I'm perfectly willing to step aside.

McMillan won't say whether he thinks other trustees should step down.

But two former university presidents and the head of a state panel investigating the scandal are calling for resignations.
