Chicago police say curfew violations fell in 2005.
But they continue to remind parents that kids 16 and under need to be off the streets after 10:30 p.m. on weekdays and 11:30 on weekends.
Commander Robert Hargesheimer says parents need to know where their children are.
"Our enforcement is strong, and we're holding parents accountable too," he says. "If you have three or more curfew violations within the last year, the parents will be cited and will have to go to the administrative hearings court."
Hargesheimer says parents can be fined from $25 to $500 per violation.
Kids living outside of Chicago, but in Illinois, are subject to the state curfew.
They have to be off the streets at 11 p.m. on weeknights, and 12 on weekends.
