Some Chicago parents and community leaders protested Chicago Public Schools' recent proposal to close, turnaround and phase out some of the under performing schools in the district at Chicago's City Hall today.

Rev. Krista Alston is the parent of a student at Price Elementary School, which might be closed.

"Over the years CPS has continued the practice of taking resources from neighborhood schools and giving those resources to charter and private operated schools but we are here to say it is time to stop," Alston said.

The protesters want to partner with the mayor to create a plan that would improve under performing schools.
