Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is creating an institute at the University of Chicago dedicated to international relationships.

The Paulson Institute will focus on the relationship between the U.S. and China. Paulson, also a former CEO of Goldman Sachs, announced the institute on Monday. He says its first efforts will concentrate on the environment, clean energy and economic activity.

Paulson says he wants his institute to work with University of Chicago scholars to plan events in Chicago and Beijing.

Paul also has been appointed a distinguished senior fellow at the university's Harris School of Public Policy Studies. In that role he will participate in research, speaker series, conferences and workshops.
