A second person has resigned as secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development in Gov. Scott Walker's first year in office.

Walker announced Monday that Secretary Scott Baumbach had resigned after being in the position just four months. He replaced Walker's first appointee, Manny Perez, who resigned in May after five months in the post.

Baumbach said in his letter of resignation Monday that he wanted to pursue opportunities in the private sector to connect job seekers and employers. Baumbach says he believes the department is leading the way toward meeting Walker's goal that 250,000 jobs be created by 2015.

Walker said that Reggie Newson, who had been serving as executive assistant at the Department of Transportation, was taking over as secretary effective Monday.
