David Ikard

Dr. David Ikard is an assistant professor of English at Florida State University. His areas of scholarship and research include nineteenth- and twentieth–century American literature, with a specialization in African-American Literature.

He has presented numerous conference papers and invited lectures on topics related to post-racialism, Hip Hop in the academy, as well as issues of white supremacy, gender politics, and Black male feminism. His book Breaking the Silence: Toward a Black Male Feminist Criticism was published in 2007. He is currently working on two books: Nation of Cowards: What it Means to be Black in Barack Obama’s Post-Racial America, and Hidden in Plain Sight: Making Black Resistance Legible in the Twenty-First Century.
