Urban analyst Aaron Renn, who lived in Chicago for 20 years, posed this provocative question in a recent article many are calling "sobering." Renn slammed Chicago; calling ourselves a "global city," he said, won't cure our deep poverty, declining population, Loop job losses or Illinois's precarious fiscal situation.
